What We Believe

We believe the Bible to be God's inspired Word - we revere its truths and respect its reproofs.

We believe that there is one true, holy God, externally existing in three persons:

Creator God as our heavenly Father who is infinitely perfect, intimately acquainted with all our ways.

Jesus Christ our Lord. The very God who came in human flesh - the object of our worship and subject of our praise.

The Holy Spirit the 3rd member of our God-head, at work in convicting, convincing and comforting.

We believe the church is the body and ministry of Jesus on earth - empowered by the Holy Spirit and exists to share His love, encourage God's family, educate for maturity and equip for ministry.

We believe that because of our sin, we are without the hope of heaven apart from a new birth (a heart change). This is made possible by Jesus' death and bodily resurrection. Those accepting Jesus Christ should ask forgiveness of their sin, confess their faith in what Jesus did for them.

We believe that Jesus Christ will one day return, which could occur at any moment - and He will reign forever as King of kings and Lord of lords.

We believe that all who have died will be brought back from beyond: believers to everlasting fellowship and unbelievers to everlasing separation from God.

Brief Facts About Our History

First Baptist was organized August 3, 1902 with 14 members November 18, 1906. The first baptism performed in a river just west of town. Lightning struck the church on March 18, 1917 and caused a fire which burned the church to the ground. Our current educational facility was built in 1956. Our current sanctuary was build in 1965.

Senior Pastor Doug Wedan became our current pastor in March 2003.
